Eileen CAMPBELL Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Eileen Campbell announce her passing on August 7, 2024. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Stuart Campbell. Eileen (née Carefoot) will be missed dearly by her daughters, Pamela Gunn (Bob Gunn) and Colleen Campbell(Stuart MacGregor). She was a proud and doting Nana to her grandchildren, Katie Nugent, Michael Nugent (Sarah), Brandon MacGregor Blake MacGregor (Emma), Ben MacGregor and a loving GG to eight great-grandchildren. Eileen's dedication and generosity to her family and friends was immeasurable, and her perennially clean home was one of legend. She was a gracious hostess to friends and family and happiest when in the kitchen, the garden or reading a good novel. Eileen was born the youngest of five children in Virden, Manitoba to Dorothy and Foster Carefoot. She started her first job at the age of 16, pumping gas at the local station. At 17, she was already working a full-time job, teaching in a one room schoolhouse while boarding with a local farm family. At age 19, Eileen moved to Brandon to work for the bank. It was there that she met the love of her life, Stuart, whom she married in 1951. Eileen, Stuart and their young family moved to Toronto in 1962, for Stu's job transfer. This was a big move for Eileen as she left her extended family behind in Manitoba and knew no one in Toronto. Thankfully, it took very little time for Eileen and Stu to establish a close community of friendships that would last a lifetime. She quickly became an integral member of her community, and very active participant at her local Westway United Church. Mom, you are desperately missed. You will stay forever in our hearts and your legacy of kindness will forever endure. We know you are at peace; that will keep us going as we continue to strive to make you proud.

Pam and Colleen, my deepest condolences for your loss. Your mom was a a new part of my life at Parkland and I enjoyed her company and companionship at lunch and dinner. I will miss my door bell ringing as your mom passed my apartment on the way to the elevator to remind me it was time to go down for our meal. I´ve been in hospital myself for the last 2 months and regret not being able to see your mom. I will miss her dearly when I get back to Parkland.
