Dear Garber family, thank you so much for having shared Eileen with the world. My heartfelt condolences to you all.
I´m so sad I did not get to see Eilleen one more time. we had planned on dinning out as soon as the threat of covid was over.
Eileen and Ralph are the grandparents I don´t have. I am so grateful for the love, care and attention both Eileen and Ralph have given me, celebrating my little victories at school when I´ve campaigned and won, being so proud of me and encouraging me to aim higher. Eileen never forgot my birthdays, always taking time to write a long well written message. I kept all her cards because her writing was not only poetic but she had the best handwriting I have ever seen. Eileen attended my ballet recitals, watched my speeches, she was Indeed my grandma, my jaja (as we call her in Uganda).
Eileen and I shared the love for reading. she always wanted to know what I was reading. She gave me many books. When I started reading online and using a Kindle reader she expressed to me that she wanted me to still experience books in their original form; paper and all.
I could write forever about Eileen. My dear Eileen, I will study hard, keep reading and learning, I hope I make you proud. I treasure every memory of you Eileen. To Ralph, am so sorry you lost your best friend. I will remember her and I and my mom laughing so hard at your very funny jokes.
Rest in peace Jaja Eileen.

Dear Ralph, I have just seen the notice of Eileen´s death. What a rich and useful life she has lived. So many children , grandchildren and others to remember her and be with you. I think of you often as a wonderful teacher and guide. And I´m thinking of you now at this difficult moment. The partnership you and Eileen shared is a model for all of us. Your student, Karen.
