PALK, Eileen Marion (née Denison)
Died in her 93rd year on November 26, 2009. She was predeceased last month by her dearly beloved husband William L. Palk. She was also predeceased by their son, Hugh Denison Palk, by her parents, Alexander and Edith Denison (née Daly), and by her brother Major Latimer Hugh Denison, DSO, Croix de Guerre. She is survived by her daughters Shanly Palk of Port Hope and Alix (Jim) Arnett of Toronto; by grandchildren Shanly (Ed Morawski) and Tannis Arnett of Toronto, and Will Arnett (Amy Poehler) and Charles Arnett of New York; also by great- grandchildren Thomas and Freddy Morawski and Archie Arnett; and by her sister Ann Denison Latter and sister-in-law Helen Palk Riley of Hamilton.
Molly was a pupil at Grosvenor School and Rupertsland College in Winnipeg, and Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School in Montreal. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1939 and married Bill in 1940.
Molly was dedicated to her family and her community. She was actively involved in the parish life of St George's Anglican Church Crescentwood and worked with organizations supporting children and the elderly - The Stella Avenue Day Nursery, Middlechurch Home, The Children's Home and the Rupertsland Retreat Association. An avid supporter of the Manitoba Guild of Crafts, Molly and Bill spent many happy hours, and made countless friends, on driving trips to visit fellow quilters throughout southern Manitoba. In latter years, they enjoyed many winters in Florida at the Racquet Club, in Vero Beach, and their Christmas Letter list got even longer.
Molly and Bill's family acknowledges with deep gratitude the excellent programming, personnel and resources provided to them by the WRHA; the many dedicated, faithful caregivers and patient staff of Drake Medox Health Services; the wise counsel of Lynne Fineman; as well as the countless medical professionals working in the health care system in Manitoba, and kind relatives and friends – all of whose support allowed Bill and Molly to live independently at home for a very long and happy life together.
A private service has been held at St John's Anglican Cathedral, Winnipeg.
