Eileen WILSON Obituary

WILSON, Eileen Sybil (nee Chandler)
Passed away February 10, 2005, at the age of 89 years, at South Granville Park Lodge in Vancouver. Born to William Kelman Chandler from Barbados and Eileen Shannon Denison of Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 14, 1915. Eileen grew up in Winnipeg surrounded by her many dear cousins, and graduated from Rupertsland/Balmoral Hall. She married, and was predeceased by (1977), Clifford Parnell Wilson in Ottawa 1940. They lived in Winnipeg (1940-1058), Calgary (1958-1960) and Ottawa (1960-1967) as they followed Clif's career as a historian. They retired to Victoria where they 'didn't have to shovel snow' in 1967. In every city, Eileen was active with the art gallery, her church and with many other community organizations. She shared a love of music with Clif and was a strong supporter of they symphony and the opera wherever she lived. She loved to travel, visiting almost every continent (too much snow in Antarctica) and is the veteran of many cruises. She will be remembered for her love of letter writing, bridge, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, Victoria Beach, golf, swimming, gracious dining and giving to her family. She was generous in so many ways. She is survived by, and devoted her life to, her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and their families across North America: Faith and Hank Thesingh of Tucson, Arizona; Christopher, Jean, Casey and Anna Wilson of Vancouver, BC; Jennifer, John, Daniel, Katie, and Sarah Shearin of Grifton, North Carolina; Douglas and Amie Thesingh of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Mary Kay, Blake, Kylie and Noah Rodgers of Powell, Ohio. We already miss her. A memorial service will be held in her beloved Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society.
