Elena Špralja-Saldini Obituary
(January 18, 1952 – November 5, 2025, Zadar, Croatia) With open hearts and deep love, we announce the peaceful passing of Elena Špralja-Saldini, beloved mother, artist, healer, and friend. Her spirit was radiant, her presence unforgettable, and the mark she left on those around her is eternal. Born in Zadar, Croatia, on January 18, 1952, Elena carried within her a boundless energy that lit up every room she entered. She built a remarkable career in the restaurant industry, where her presence was nothing short of magnetic - a true force to be reckoned with. Elena's creativity knew no bounds. She began her artistic journey with ceramics, eventually falling in love with glassblowing at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre, later continuing her studies at Sheridan College. Her work was bold, expressive, and deeply personal. She held exhibitions in both Toronto and Zadar, proudly showcasing her love for glass and photography. Everything she touched bore the unmistakable imprint of her spirit. Elena loved to dance - music moved through her like a current, and she would get lost in it, radiating joy and freedom. Her laugh was infectious, impossible not to join in. Her touch, quite literally, healed. Many experienced her hands not just as comforting but transformative - she carried something sacred, and she gave it freely. A gifted energy healer, using her intuitive gifts to bring peace and transformation to others. Her strength was matched only by her gentleness - kind, patient, fiercely protective, and endlessly nurturing. Elena was devoted to her children above all else. Her love for her son, Jean-Marc - her "Maki," as she so often said, "my first born" - was something you could feel the moment she spoke about him. Whether celebrating his achievements in commercial diving, his successes in film, or reliving moments from the basketball court, her pride was radiant and unwavering. She believed in him with all her heart, and her support was both fierce and tender. A gifted photographer as well, Jean-Marc's artistry reflected the same depth and soul that his mother so admired. That bond between them was beautiful to witness. And her daughter, Alexandra - her "Koki," her strong yet gentle wind. Her Mia-Zora, her dawn. Elena always knew Alexandra was destined for greatness and carried the spirit of a warrior. She beamed when she spoke about her and protected her with everything she had. In Elena's final years, Alexandra did the same - caring for her mother with honour, grace, and unwavering love. Elena returned to her hometown of Zadar, where she was lovingly cared for by Alexandra. Their bond was unshakable and full of tenderness. Elena was a mother to everyone she touched. Even when life felt overwhelming, she always had time, patience, and space for those she loved. Nothing was ever too much - her love knew no limits. She is survived by her devoted children, Jean-Marc and Alexandra (Rob), who will forever carry her love, teachings, and radiant spirit in their hearts. Elena lived fully, passionately, and with a depth that is rare. Everyone who came into contact with her felt her presence deeply. She changed lives - with her hands, her words, her art, and her love. She was, and always will be, unmatched. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting something in her memory - she would have loved that. With heartfelt gratitude, the family would like to thank everyone who stood by us through this journey. A special thank you to our lovely Gordana Pešut - your tireless work and love meant everything to us, and always will. To Jakov and Lauren Rogulj - though not through blood, you were her family, deep in our souls. She loved you and the boys fiercely. Thank you for brightening her days. To all who visited, called, or simply stood by us - thank you. You reminded us we were never alone.
