Dear Betty,
I have been away on our sailboat for most of the summer, and yet kept up with the Globe+Mail whenever we could. So I was very saddened to read of the passing of your beautiful daughter, such an awful illness that we still have not learned enough about treatments that cure. My sincere condolences to you, your husband and your son. The notice was filled with love and compassion. I hope that your memories will always bring you some happiness, she must have filled your life with her smile.

Dear Betty,
I have such strong memories of Ellie when I last saw her: Her beauty, her intensity and the ironic twinkle in her eye. I am so very sorry to hear about her passing and this unfathomable loss. My heart goes out to the entire family, and I hope you find comfort in one another. If there is ever anything I can do to help, please don´t hesitate to ask.

We were so sad to hear this. Dave and I only met Ellie once but we never forgot the bright and quirky young girl who mingled with the grownups, bowing and greeting us with "Konnichiwa" and a twinkle in her eye. We are so very sorry for your loss.
