Elizabeth McKEOWN Obituary
The first words that come to mind when describing Gran are tireless and inquisitive. An endless compiler of to-do lists, she could effortlessly map out anything and everything under the sun and was happiest when busy. Elizabeth Anne Dingman was born on October 17, 1937, in Montréal and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 27, 2024, in the Eastern Townships. She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Hartland; and their two children, Virginia (Erik Morin) and Hartland (Michèle Belzile). She was equally proud of her four grandchildren, Zoë and Jack Morin, and Morgan and Hartland McKeown III. As a young girl, she attended Roslyn School in Westmount, then Trafalgar School for Girls, graduating with honours. On next to McGill University, she completed her degree concentrating in Fine Arts, Psychology, Sociology and History. After marriage to Harty in June 1960, she spent several decades serving in various capacities in the Junior League, The Art Gallery of Ontario, The McMichael Canadian Art Collection, The Toronto Hospital for Sick Children and Allenby School. All the while raising her children, Elizabeth became an accomplished golfer (a proud Ladies' Captain of the Knowlton Golf Club in 2000), tennis player and a gracious hostess. Possessing a keen eye, she excelled at photography, gardening, flower arranging, decorating, and jewellery-making. Later years would be spent between Knowlton and The Country Club of Florida. She would often express her gratitude for living the luckiest life possible and she adored her family and friends. We will miss her dearly. Thank you to the caregivers and staff of the Manoir du Lac Brome; you became part of her extended family and she loved you all very much. There will be a small memorial service for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be sent to the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital, Cowansville where she received such wonderful, dignified and compassionate care.
