ELIZABETH NORTH Obituary

(nee Walker), UEL. Born on November 4, 1926, Elizabeth "Betty" North passed away peacefully, on January 17, 2025, at the age of 98. True to her character, she left this world on her terms, leaving behind a legacy of love, grace, and a deep appreciation for the finer details of life. A beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, she touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was predeceased by her two devoted husbands, Bill (William North) and Bob (Robert Franklin), with whom she shared cherished years of love and companionship. Renowned for her passion for antiques, Betty possessed a remarkable talent for finding unique treasures. For a time, she dealt in antique linens, bringing history and elegance into the homes of others. Her adventurous spirit took her around the globe, including a memorable solo journey to London to attend a concert by famed violinist André Rieu. Betty's travels enriched her life with diverse experiences and countless memories. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from playing bridge with friends to indulging in her love for gourmet dining, particularly oysters and champagne. A lover of the arts, Betty was an avid theatregoer, ballet enthusiast, and devoted volunteer for Goodwill. Her interests also extended to gardening, cruising, and occasionally relaxing with an action movie on Netflix. Betty's generous heart and unwavering positivity brightened the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed by her nephews, great-nephews, and a close circle of lifelong friends who will treasure her memory. Betty wished to express her heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers for their kindness and support during her final days. In her honour, she requested that trees be planted as a living tribute, ensuring her legacy of growth and renewal endures. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, on Sunday, February 16th, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Elizabeth "Betty" North's life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and the joy of living fully. She will be fondly remembered and profoundly missed. Rest in peace, dear Betty.

I have such fond childhood memories of visiting Betty and Bill for family dinners. I loved to hear Betty's stories of their travels along with the latest cat acquisitions. I always admired Betty's glass collection and she inspired me to start my own collection. I will miss her.

Betty was a pleasure to know and always had a special place at the hair salon she visited. She loved to hear a good joke and also showed her true self. She will be fondly remembered always.
