ELIZABETH TARASSOFF Obituary

(née Hodge) (April 29, 1939 – October 14, 2025) It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Tarassoff (née Hodge) on October 14, 2025, at the age of 86, following complications due to Parkinson's disease. Born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Ann was the second daughter of Stuart and Hilda Hodge and was predeceased by her sisters, June Lemieux and Susan Hodge. Ann was the beloved wife of Peter Tarassoff, whom she married in 1962. She was a devoted mother to Peter (Jennifer), Andrew (Brigitte), and Jane (Michael); and a proud "Grannie" to Valérie and Julia. A graduate of Bishop's University and the McGill School for Teachers, Ann began her career as a teacher before dedicating herself to raising her family and volunteering in support of her children's activities, including at their school library. A lifelong learner and nature lover, Ann was a keen birder who travelled widely with her husband on birding adventures, including trips to Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, South Africa, and Australia, where learning about the culture and lives of the people she met was equally important. A woman of many creative talents, she loved learning new crafts, including oil painting, pottery, and copper enamelling. Ann was also a talented needleworker and longtime member of the Lakeshore Creative Stitchery Guild, where she eagerly explored new techniques and shared her skills by teaching others. Ann also had a passion for baking - no birthday celebration was complete without one of her lovingly made cakes. She was an avid reader, always seeking out new authors and scanning the bestseller lists for her next great read. Ann's kindness, gentle spirit, and welcoming smile touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A celebration of Ann's life will be held in the spring, when the birds are singing.
