On Saturday November 13, 2004 at St. Joseph's Villa, Dundas, aged 99. Dearly loved wife and life partner of the Late David Henry Gordon Fairclough, (1997). Canada's first female Federal Cabinet Minister, formerly Alderman and Controller (Deputy Mayor) of the City of Hamilton (1946-50 incl.), Member of Parliament for Hamilton West (1950-63) and Privy Councillor (1957-63). Predeceased by her son Howard Gordon (1986). Survived by several nieces and nephews. At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at All Saints Anglican Church, Hamilton with The Right Reverend D. Ralph Spence, Bishop of Niagara presiding and The Reverend Paula Crippen assisting. Ellen was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Hamilton. If so desired, it would be greatly appreciated if sympathy is expressed in the form of a donation to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, Hamilton or the Service Fund of the Zonta Club of Hamilton c/o 49 Glenmount Avenue, Hamilton L8S 2L3.
