Very grateful to have had her as a Professor. A gentle but sharp mind and a compassionate and encouraging teacher.

Remembering Ellen as affirming and supportive of all of us - women studying theology...and discerning our call in the Church...and in the world. Much peace my dear...

Sister Ellen Leonard was two years ahead of me at St. Joseph's College School Toronto. In 1951, the School published its first year book. Sister Ellen graduated that year. Beside her picture, there is a tribute to her and here is a part of it as follows "An exceptional student who has led her class every year. Ellen also holds the positions of Symphony Representative and Library Editor of the Year Book." Sister Ellen dedicated her life to helping others! Rest in Peace Dear Sister!

I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to know Ellen. She was generous with her time and teaching during the Ecumenical Decade of Churches In Solidarity with Women, sharing her wisdom and knowledge in a number of informal ecumenical settings. Her graciousness, sense of humour and wisdom always touched me.
Condolences to her community and family and friends.

I extend my condolences to the Sisters of St Joseph and to Ellen´s dear friends. Sister Ellen taught members of my family at Holy Rosary School. She contributed greatly to enhancing the role of women in the church. I am personally grateful to her and to all the sisters who enriched my life and have contributed so generously to the education and care of Canadians.

Was sorry to find Ellen´s obituary in this morning´s newspaper. I knew Ellen through Faculty if Theology at St. Michael´s College, Toronto. Ellen lived a very full life, and was especially devoted to women´s studies, and their place in today´s world. The years fall like rose petals. Wanda Welsh-Tomko
