At Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket Ontario, Eric John Brooks, much loved and loving husband of Mary for more than 50 years, caring and proud father of son James, his wife Lara, and daughter Jacqueline, and affectionate grandfather to Jacob, Joshua and Jonathan Brooks. Eric valued and loved his extended family, brother Robert Brooks and his wife Catherine, brother-in-law Richard Clarke and his wife Marian and their children and grandchildren.

Eric's business career spanned almost 55 years in the chemical industry, starting in chemical sales at CIL upon graduation from Loyola College Montreal in 1963. Later, as President and CEO of Welland, Expro, Nitrochem and Copperhead Chemical Corporations, Eric had a reputation for treating employees, customers and competitors with empathy, generosity, and good humour. He was a dealmaker who took pride in a fair deal for everyone involved.

At Eric's request, his body has been donated to the University of Toronto for scientific research. A Farewell Celebration of Life will be held at the family farm Brookhaven, 17821 McCowan Road, Cedar Valley, Ontario from 2-5 pm on Friday, September 8, 2017. Formal Remembrance at 2:30 pm. Those wishing to make a donation in Eric's memory may do so either to the Southlake Foundation New Bed Program or to a charity of your choice.
