ERIC CAMPBELL McCRACKEN Peacefully in London, Ontario, on Tuesday, September 27, in his 98th year. Devoted husband of the late Dorothea Mary (nee Giffen); loving father of Caroline and her husband, Bruce Shirreff. Adored grandfather (Tet) of Lindsay (husband Thomas Kalvik) and Samantha. Proud great-grandfather of Peter and Stuart Kalvik. He took on many roles throughout his long and productive life - husband, parent, father-in-law, grandparent, great- grandparent, physician, mentor and friend. During the latter part of his career, Eric taught in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. In describing his teaching style, one of his residents said, 'as with all things in his life, Eric taught and led by example. Although he challenged students to think for themselves and solve their own problems, in the end he could be trusted to guide with an honest, intelligent and straight answer. You knew he would always be there with wit and wisdom - and he always was.' Eric was forever the quiet companion who gave sacred space to anyone he sat with. At his request, a private family funeral service will be conducted in St. Aidan's Chapel of St. Paul's Cathedral with interment at Woodland Cemetery. www.HarrisFuneralHome.ca
