EVA McKENZIE Obituary

With love surrounding her, Eva O'Delia Marie McKenzie passed away on September 25, 2025, in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Anne Kocher; and brother, John Kocher; she is survived by her sister, Margaret Kominik of Waterloo; and her sister-in-law, Karen Kocher of Hepworth. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. During her prolonged battle with polio in childhood, she spent her time reading books and listening to the radio, from which she developed a love of baseball and jazz. Her love of jazz took her on a trip to New Orleans, and closer to home, volunteering at the JAZZ.FM91radio station. Eva was known for her superb cooking, baking, sewing, and crafts, as well as her generosity in sharing her creations. She worked as an executive assistant, forming lasting friendships with colleagues. Eva loved to travel, fulfilling her dream of visiting Mongolia and sharing her travel experiences with others. She sewed her own clothes and proudly coordinated her outfits, often with accessories she made. On her 60th birthday, a cousin described her as "exuberant (adjective): bubbling over with joy, high spirits, enthusiasm, health, etc." In her final years, this may have been less so as she quietly suffered with COPD. During this time, she still maintained her deep loyalty to friends and family. She did not want a service, but to be remembered for the good times shared with others.
