EVA SUTO Obituary
1927-2025 After a brief illness, Eva died peacefully, on March 21, 2025, her 98th birthday. Eva fled Budapest, just after Christmas 1944, as the Russian army advanced westward. She lived in Kufstein, Austria, and Paris, France, before finally being able to put down roots in Toronto in 1952. While working at her uncle's tailor shop in Budapest, she learned the languages and skills necessary to begin her career in sales, as an office manager and bookkeeper. She married her husband, Gerry Gyula Suto, in 1965. Together, they bought the beloved cottage on Lake Waseosa and then their home in Deer Park. Their son, Gabriel, was welcomed shortly after. Eva's passions were literature, art and strong espresso coffee. She took immense pleasure in her home and hosting family and friends. After retirement, Eva and Gerry would travel to Hungary to visit friends and family. They enjoyed discovering the history and culture of numerous countries from Croatia to the Netherlands. During the winter, they enjoyed visiting the Bahamas and Mexico. Happily they fulfilled their dream of wading into the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic and Pacific oceans. After 55 years of marriage, Gerry passed away in 2021. It was decided to celebrate a funeral Mass for both Eva and Gerry when they could be reunited. There will be a funeral Mass for Eva and Gerry Suto at St. Elizabeth Church of Hungary, with interment afterwards at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
