EVELINE SCHULTE It is with sorrow and relief that we announce the passing of Eveline Schulte on December 30, 2018, as she took her last breath calmly and peacefully with her family by her side. Widowed to Derick Brenninkmeijer in 1990, Eveline lived alone in Oakville before getting remarried to Dick Schulte in 2007. She had a wide group of friends both from the Oakville golf club and her special bridge partners. How much bridge was mastered is questionable but she enjoyed the game and the company. She always loved to be involved with the events organized by the Dutch community. Eveline wore an elegance and finesse throughout her life which, like loose silk, weaved it's way through all she did. Her's was a home kept where a welcoming smile and a warm cup of her famous soup awaited any and all who entered. Her's was a care and pride in the places she lived, the home she made and the people she met along the way, be it in Holland, New York, Los Angeles, England, Montreal or Oakville. Her cuisine was legendary. Each dish was very much a reflection of herself, simple, elegant, welcoming. Born May 20, 1940, in Tilburg, The Netherlands, Eveline was the fourth child of Willem and Noor van der Lande and sister to Gaby, Beatrice, Carla and her brother Fré. Her sense of perfection was equally matched by her strong will and devotion. As a woman of faith, her daily decisions came from an inner strength of conviction and principal which she lived out in her own unique way. The best thing that she left behind for us was her example. She gave of herself endlessly and always had a hand extended to those in need, her generosity extended to family and friends in need as well as the many charitable organizations both here and abroad. She was a fighter and followed her beliefs throughout her life. There can only be joy in knowing that hers was a life well-lived. There were so many moments of joy and laughter along with many challenges and we can only be thankful that she is now joined with God in eternity. Eveline leaves behind her husband, Dick; along with Roger and Stephen her sons; their wives Danja and Alba; stepdaughters Fiona, her husband Jeff, Carol and Franca; and ten grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Eveline's life at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd W., Oakville from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019.
