Evelyn CHAMBERLAIN Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Jean Chamberlain (née Munro) on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 99 years, in the Sturgeon Community Hospital, in St. Albert, Alberta. Born in Toronto, Ontario, to parents William Reid Munro and Emily Louise Bray, Evelyn was renowned for her success in school and continued throughout her life to be admired for her vivid memory, and her interest in everyone she met. She married James Davidson Allan who soon died in an accident while flying a bomber as a staff pilot at RCAF Fingal, in 1945. However, she had a son, Frederic James (Jim) by James. Later she married Ralph Joseph Chamberlain, and they spent many happy years together, raising son David Theophilus and moving to Alberta for Ralph's career in the oil seed industry. When Ralph died Evelyn stayed on by herself in St. Albert. She spent many happy hours staying in touch with far-flung family and friends via telephone and computer. She enjoyed her neighbours in her condo, as well as frequent visits from son Jim Allan from Hudson (Montreal); and niece, Susan Miller from Calgary. Predeceased by brother Douglas (Urla); husbands James and Ralph; and son, David. Survived by son Jim (Martha); cousin, Phil of England (daughter Sandy); on the Munro side: nephew, Douglas (Vera); nieces, Diane (René), Carol (Jim), Denise; on the Allan side: nephew, Jim (Helen); on the Chamberlain side: nephew, John (Diana); nieces, Wendy (Rolf), Jill, Susan (Rick); and many grand-nieces and -nephews. Her wishes were for the simplest cremation without ceremony and for anyone so inclined to make a donation to the Charity of Your Choice.
