F. HUCKABONE Obituary

F. ALLAN HUCKABONE F. Allan Huckabone passed away peacefully at Miramichi Lodge on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the age of 88 years. Allan Huckabone of Pembroke, beloved husband of the late Kathleen Huckabone (née Leonard). Father of Mark Huckabone of Pembroke and Stephanie Huckabone (Max Joly) of Ottawa. Cherished Poppa of Felix, Jake, Ben, Claire and Patrick. Son of the late Findlay and Efie Huckabone. From a very young age, Allan was a voracious reader and a strong personality. People were drawn to his wit, intellect and charm. Allan left Pembroke and went to Kingston where he received a bachelor's degree in History from Queen's University and went on to Osgoode in Toronto to get his law degree. With his bride, Kathleen (née Leonard) he returned to Pembroke and practiced law until he retired in 2008. He was passionate about history, the arts, good food, wine and the natural world. He suffered fools lightly and had a lot of time for interesting, honest people. He believed equally in hard work and having a good time. Allan was a legend in the Ottawa Valley, professionally, personally and philanthropically. He was a big believer in giving to his community and getting involved in worthy causes. Allan and Katie traveled the world simply and together. They were best friends and shared a love of life, intellectual pursuits, travel, classical music and entertaining. Allan (and Katie) will be truly missed. A private interment was held at Wesley United Cemetery, Pembroke. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. (In lieu of flowers, donations to Miramichi Lodge would be appreciated). Mark and Stephanie:
Our thoughts and prayers are with both of you and your families. Mr Huckabone was very important to James particularly in his younger years. He often speaks about the time he took him in a plane trip to go fishing when he was little and how every year he bought his ski pass and would provide him with skis so he could spend more time with you both. Your dad had more influence than you will ever know on James. I know james spent a lot of his childhood at your home with you both and your parents. Now your parents are together pain free and watching down on you both with much peace and a lot of pride with the exceptional lives and productive members of your community that you both are. When I think of your parents I remember them travelling by the point in their little fishing boat heading out to enjoy their time together or out for a walk around Petawawa point. God bless. Take care. Love Janice Smith xox
