Fedora DENNIS Obituary

FEDORA DENNIS (Freddie) 1924-2018 Born September 16, 1924, to Anthony and Tatiana Severenuk in Zalazko, Poland, little Theodora (Fedora) immigrated to Canada at age 4. Initially settling on Huron St in downtown Toronto, the family moved to a farm in the Waterford area a few years later. A self-described 'city girl', she moved back to Toronto in her 20's and worked at the T.E. Eaton & Co where she met our father, Norman Dennis (d. 1977). They married in 1947 and settled on the beautiful St. Andrews Road in Scarborough, where Freddie lived for almost 60 years. Her children, Aleta, Richard and Kathleen, were blessed with a gentle, kind, happy, smart, hard working and creative mother who loved her family dearly, and they loved her back. She loved dancing, was an amazing quilter, knitter, spectacular stained glass artist and gardener - famous locally for her massive wild front lawn garden. Along with her children, she will be missed by her son-in-law John, her granddaughter sweet Annie, grandson Adam, sisters-in-law Elsie and Marie, her beloved cousins, her nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbours. Freddie passed away at Momiji Seniors Centre where she has lived and been lovingly cared for by the staff for the last few years. Special thanks to Yuka Okada, Yukie Otsubo, Yukie Beasley and Naomi Ono from the EPC, Dr. Chan and all the other staff, and especially the PSW's, for their compassionate and respectful friendship and care. At Freddie's request, instead of a funeral there will be a party to celebrate her life. Friends and family are invited to come together and share memories on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 11:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Beverley Halls (Polish Combatants Hall), 206 Beverley Street, Toronto. As much as she loved flowers, she would have appreciated donations to the Momiji Health Care Society (momiji.on.ca) or to Annie Dennis or John Slama's 2019 Ride to Conquer Cancer (conquercancer.ca).

Sending our love and fond memories of Cousin Fedora and family. Remembering fun family gatherings at the Petrochuk farm. Regretting we can not attend December 1 celebration of Fedora's life, but have a good memory of being Fedora's flowergirl for her wedding in 1947. Love Joyce and Doug Hall

Aleta, Glen and I are sorry for your loss. She is in a better place. We can't make the celebration of life. Hope we will still see you occasionally at Momiji.

Oh Lea, You have been on my mind the last few days. Now I know why. I am so sorry to hear of your sweet mom's death. I know how close you were. No one can replace a mother. You are in my prayers. May you find peace and a new reality without your mom. Sent with my love.

Oh how I'm going to miss this lady!! Freddie was so much fun and up for any adventure. I will always cherish the days that dad and I would meet her at Fallsview or go on a roadtrip; you could see the love and respect they had for eachother as they were siblings, very close in age, and had been through much. Their reminiscing and storytelling was something I loved when they would get together...made me realize how lucky we are to be a part of their clan. I'll miss you terribly Freddie, but I know that Heaven just got a little livelier!!! XO
