Fernand BIGIO Obituary
BIGIO, Fernand Maurice
69, died peacefully July 3, 2000 at home. Born in Cairo, Egypt, he was the son of Maurice and Mathilde (Hemsi). He served with the British Army in Egypt prior to coming to Canada via London, England. In Montreal he was in the travel business and ran his own shipping agency. He then moved to Halifax where he ran a successful shipchandlery company for 20 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Ruth (Stubbings), sons Victor, Toronto and Jason, Halifax
of Ruth and Maurice, Montreal and David, Auckland
of Lisette (Mansour). Surviving are brothers Leon, Toronto and Aaron, Israel; Tante Mathilde Bigio, Toronto; brother-in-law Isy Cowen, Toronto; daughters-in-law Ewa and Heather, granddaughter Isabelle; many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister, Denise Sarah, and other family members. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cruickshank's Halifax Funeral Home. No flowers by request. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association. A celebration of his life will be held at home on Thursday, July 6, 2000 from 2-4 p.m.
