Fran HERMAN Obituary

FRAN HERMAN Today we celebrate the life of Fran Herman accomplished pianist, pioneer of Music Therapy, advocate for children and youth, and recipient of the Governor General's Meritorious Award. She passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of October 19, 2020, at the age 93. She was born, Frances Korson in Cobalt, Ontario predeceased by her cherished husband of 45 years, Carl Joseph Herman (September 4, 2007). Her memory will be treasured by her darling daughter, Eve Sari Herman (Angelo Guaragna); her wonderful grandson, Christopher Kubinec and her two devoted sisters, Norma Hoffman and Evelyn Druker; along with family, friends, and colleagues. Fran was a truly wonderful person, together with Carl and Eve, and their many friends from Etobicoke Collegiate, they created magic around their home, their holidays, craft sales and Music Therapy. So many young students, myself included learned wonderful lessons of music, the arts, life and love.
Fran was a superb chef, hostess, loving daughter, sister, mother and wife and an accomplished music therapist, setting a high standard for all of her relationships. Her life, her encouraging attitude and her love of the arts have touched many people who will grieve her absence.
I will draw a cartoon, hum a song, plant some flowers (next spring) and always think fondly of her.
Evie- sending sincerest condolences to you and your family for your loss.
Tonight too, I am thinking of Benji and sending him hugs.

I want to send my thoughts to Evie, who i remember as a little girl, often accompanying her mom to OCCC. Music therapy was such a great addition to our 'kid's' lives, and staff too! Fran made all of our lives richer.
