Frank BALDANZA Obituary

FRANK JOSEPH BALDANZA Frank Joseph Baldanza passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022, in his 63rd year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of twenty-nine years, Anne Snider; his children, Michael and Christina; his parents, Joseph and Rosaria; his mother-in-law, Louise Snider; his siblings, Anthony (Irma), Josephine Wilkinson, and Joseph (Mary Dart); his sisters-in-law, Mary Snider and Margaret Snider-McGrath (Rory); his nieces and nephews, Alex Wilkinson (Cristina Schieda), Andrea Pitula (Matt), Andrew (Anne Barbeau), Christopher, Jessica, Jack, Ally, and Ben and Spencer Snider-McGrath. Frank was predeceased by his father-in-law, Allan Snider and his brother-in-law Greg Wilkinson. Hardworking and energetic, Frank found his professional calling as a Tax Partner at Deloitte in Toronto. He specialized in the real estate sector and he loved the intellectual challenge of creating tax planning opportunities for his clients. But his real love was for his family - his wife, Anne (also an accountant) and their two children, for whom he delighted coaching hockey and soccer and with whom, along with Anne, he shared numerous family trips. Frank was a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin and relished the numerous family celebrations and milestones every year. Frank was kind and loving, with a genial temperament and a ready sense of humour. His friends came from all phases of his life and included many life-long friends from his years at Michael Power-St. Joseph High School and the University of Toronto. Outside of work, Frank loved engaging in household projects at home and cottage, listening to and sharing his favourite music (there was no question that John was the "best" Beatle), following the Toronto Maple Leafs (even when it was painful to watch) and participating in athletic endeavours: playing tennis, squash and hockey in younger years; skiing and snowshoeing at Craigleith; and golfing, cycling and hiking with Anne and friends in various parts of Canada and the U.S., especially southern Georgian Bay and The Blue Mountains. The family would like to thank Maureen Daniels, Dr. Warren Mason and his team, and all the staff from the Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital for their treatment and compassionate care of Frank, beginning with his brain tumour diagnosis (oligodendroglioma) over twenty-one years ago. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jenny Lau and her team in the Palliative Care Unit at Princess Margaret Hospital for following Frank since 2020 and for their exceptional care of Frank during his final days. Visitation at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel funeral home will be limited, due to Covid-19 restrictions; please refer to the Turner & Porter website for details. The family requests that all guests be double-vaccinated. A private funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. To view the service remotely, please visit the same website for details. Memorial donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation https://supportthepmcf.ca/ui/DonateNow/donations/start (Fund allocation: Kirchmann Family Chair Neuro-oncology Research Fund or the Palliative Care Program Fund).
