Grandfather to Sasha Lemieux, Alexander Nendsa, Sebastian Nendsa, Carson Krasnay, and Danika Krasnay. Franklin is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Armitage (Howard); and his nieces and nephews, Alanna Armitage (Jorge) and her children, Alejandra and Maximilliano; Derek Armitage (Suman) and their children, Aidan and Anika; and Renata Burns and her child, Bodie. He will also be fondly remembered by his dear friend, Kathy Parker. Franklin was born in Brussels, ON and moved to Seaforth as a child, where he enjoyed many great adventures with his lifelong friends, Jim Crich and Neil Broadfoot (predeceased). In 1970, he graduated from Western University with multiple degrees including a BSc, an MSc in Neuroscience, and a degree in Medicine. Franklin went on to establish a private psychoanalytic practice, The Institute of Human Development, in 1972, which he continued in Barrie and Collingwood, ON until his retirement in 2012. Franklin was an early champion of mental healthcare and touched many lives with his kind and compassionate care. When not working in his practice, Franklin was a passionate sailor and previous member of the Barrie, Midland and Thornbury Yacht Clubs, an avid skier and member of the Toronto Ski Club, and also enjoyed curling and daily rides on his bicycle, until quite late in his life. Franklin will be remembered for his unwavering compassion, adventurous spirit, and dedication to improving the lives of others. His keen intellect, good humour, and zest for life touched all who knew him.
