FRASER SUTHERLAND Obituary

July 23, 1977 – January 17, 2025 Fraser Britton Campbell Sutherland passed away unexpectedly, at his home on Friday, January 17, 2025. Born in Peterborough, Ontario, in 1977, Fraser leaves behind his devoted wife, Jessica Sutherland (Brady); and their three cherished children, Ashley (16), Cara (15), and Hunter (12). He will be deeply missed by his father, Dr. Richard Ian Lloyd Sutherland, and his wife, Carolyn Ketcheson of Belleville; his brother, Alaeric Sutherland, sister-in-law, Tara Sutherland (McMinn), and their children, Lauren and Michael, of Burlington, Ontario. Fraser is now reunited in heaven with his loving mother, Helen Anne Margaret Sutherland (Milling). Fraser was a highly respected investment advisor in the Canadian wealth management industry. He recently joined Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, where he established their Ottawa office. Prior to this, he spent over 20 years with CIBC Wood Gundy and, in 2022, was recognized as one of Canada's top wealth advisors by The Globe and Mail. Fraser generously gave his time and energy to causes close to his heart, supporting organizations such as the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, the Keystone Awards in Ottawa, and the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. Whether volunteering his time, lending his expertise, or offering words of encouragement, Fraser's commitment to making a difference was evident in everything he did. His unwavering dedication, compassion, and generosity touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on his community. A dedicated hockey dad and coach to his kids' teams, Fraser found immense joy in supporting his children both on and off the ice. His love for his family was the foundation of everything he did, and he will be remembered most as a devoted husband, father, and friend. Fraser will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Fraser's life will be held in the Canada Room of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa (1 Elgin Street) on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 2 - 5 p.m. All those whose lives were touched by Fraser are welcome to attend. Donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are gratefully accepted by the family, in lieu of flowers. Fraser was stoic.
He was compassionate.
He was kind.
Fraser was both a team player and a leader.
He loved life and lead the "life of Riley".
He was passionate about his family, friends and clients.
Fraser was a devoted husband and father.
His greatest pride was his family.
He was a superb role model with an exceptional work ethic.
He lived sports and the camaraderie surrounding them.
He a person of tremendous integrity and a visionary.
Fraser was a thoroughbred, a superstar, a high achiever, the needle in the haystack.

For his many accomplishments, his greatest achievement was the life and family he built with Jess. Their three children amazed us all with their poignant speeches to their father this past Monday. Surely Fraser was looking upon them and beaming with pride. These three incredible young g people spoke with such love, admiration and gratitude for a man who loved them more than anything else in this world.

Jess, Ashley, Cara and Hunter: you are all truly inspiring . We are certain that the Sutherland Team will forge ahead!

Fraser was taken from all of us far too soon. But we remain grateful for having had the opportunity to know and love him and to have been loved by him.

All our love and deepest condolences,

Jeff and Rebeccah La Morre
