Fred PLATT Obituary

FRED PLATT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Allan Platt, devoted and cherished husband of 47 years to Sharon Platt, loving father of Aaron and Amy Platt and Michael Platt, Zaidy to Avery and Brooke and brother to Chaim and Judi Platt. Fred was called to the Bar in 1974 and was a deeply respected lawyer in the Toronto legal community. He loved to practice law, but was also so well known for his many hobbies and interests, including magic, bird watching, gardening, and chess. However, Fred will always be remembered for the years he spent riding his motorcycle and his proud membership in the Yids on Wheels. Fred will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He cherished his deep friendships that spanned decades and intersected with his many hobbies and interests. Fred's earliest memories are from the cottage in Belle Ewert, where he spent summers with his parents and his brother, and then with Sharon and the boys. The cottage time was like no other. Our hearts are broken. At Beth Sholom Synagogue, 1445 Eglinton Avenue W., (west of the Allen Road) for service on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. Interment in the Beth Sholom Synagogue section of Mt. Sinai Memorial Park. Shiva at 2500 Bathurst Street, # 506, Toronto. Please see www.benjamins.ca for shiva details and to leave a message of condolence. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to The Sinai Health Foundation and designated to the Intensive Care Unit online by visiting www.supportsinai.ca (select other and indicate ICU Fund) or calling 416-586-8203 or 1-877-565-8555, or UJA's Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund, 416-631-5685 [email protected].

I met Fred in 1973 when we clerked together at the Court of Appeal. Our paths crossed occasionally after laterally in the court. Fred was Fred. He always had a smile and most often a winning point. He was a very good lawyer. My condolences to his family.
