Dear Beverly and Family. Please accept my sincere condolences from my family and I on the passing of your husband and father Fred. I am honored to have known such a remarkable man who was very proud of his business accomplishments and his extensive Canadian art collection within his home. His wit and fiestiness up to his last days will be missed.

To Mrs. Schaeffer and the boys - Jonathan, David and Dan. So very sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and father. I treasure the time I spent at the Seinecliife house, doing my best to stay out of trouble - most of the time. My thoughts are with you all.

To Beverly and the entire Schaeffer family,
Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences on Fred's passing. We are honoured to have known him and have many fond memories of him. He was a remarkable man in so many ways - as a father, a husband, a friend and a business leader. We have witnessed his kind spirit, friendly and understanding nature, both on a personal and professional level. We hope that you will find comfort and strength in the fond memories you have of such a wonderful human being.

Dear Beverly and family. The Gottliebs are mourning the loss of a remarkable man. Fred was the late David Gottlieb´s beloved partner and best friend. That two such different men should have bonded as they did must have filled both their souls. As an only child, Fred found an Israeli brother. As the sole surviving brother in a family of four boys, David´s relationship with Fred was extraordinary. Both passed away exactly six months of each other. If there is a heaven, they are sitting together laughing about about land development secrets, David teasing Fred about the Wagner symphony moment, and both betting which subdivision´s storm sewers may not last the test of time. May Fred´s memory be for a blessing. He touched so many lives.

With deepest condolences from all of us at the Varley Art Gallery of Markham. Fred was a wonderful supporter of the Gallery, a committed Board Member, and he also served as Board Chair. We really appreciate all of his contributions to the Gallery and the Varley-McKay Art Foundation. He will be very much missed.

To Beverly and her Family,
My sincere condolences to you on the passing of Fred. I am honoured to have worked for Fred. More importantly, I wish to convey the respect and friendship my father had with Fred while being his partner in the land surveying firm. He always spoke highly of Fred. They had a perfect business "marriage" in that they had different skills that complimented each other to conduct a successful business. He would have undoubtedly shown his respect at this moment as Fred did at the passing of my father over 20 years ago.
My mother is now 94 years old with Alzheimer's disease. She is now living in a long-term care facility. I told her of Fred's passing and she asked me to pass on her condolences and to make a donation.
Yours truly,
Harold Reinthaler

My memories of Fred are of him proudly showing me round the unparalleled collection of Canadian art that he and Beverly put together. Their home was a treasure house and the two of them the most generous, kindest hosts you could imagine. Fred was so proud of it and endlessly knowledgeable. A kind, kind man. I´ll miss him.
