McKEON, Frederic A. Halifax, died peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2005 following a long courageous battle with cancer, 3 days after his 69th birthday.
Fred was the loving husband and best friend of Natalie, much loved father of Cathy (Greg) Branton, Mark and Julie (Rob) Greenaway, cherished grandfather of Sarah and Jason Branton, Michael, Gordon, and Kathleen McKeon, Quin and Joshua Greenaway. 'Favorite' brother of Bette, Louis (Mary), Jim (Renalta), Sister Patricia, Jill, Jack (Rickie), and Barry (Mary). Well-loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Thanks to special friends Linda and Nick Villani for their tender care and loving support during Fred's final days. Many thanks to Dr. Paul McIntyre, Ruby MacDonald, and the wonderfully caring staff on the Palliative Care Unit 7A at the Victoria General Hospital.
Fred greatly appreciated the loving attention and support of all his family and friends throughout the course of his illness.
Fred's favorite passions were, first and foremost, playing with his grandchildren, and enjoying golf, squash, and bridge games. He will be sadly missed for his joie de vivre, positive attitude and limitless energy.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 11 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2032 Robie Street. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 12 at 10 a.m., at St. Agnes Church on Mumford Road at Chebucto Road, Fr. Lloyd O'Neill officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer Clinic Nova Scotia, c/o QEII Foundation.
