In 1986 Peter hired me to work with him on his private clients at Mclean Budden. Joining Mclean Budden was the best thing that happened to me career wise. I learned a lot from Peter about being a good investment manager. Peter was from the older school. Even when PCs were coming into common use, Peter continued to use his slide rule. When Peter retired from Mclean Budden, some of his partners thought we should have his slide rule bronzed. But then we thought that he might miss using it so we got him a nice new bronze gadget for his sail boat. When we had client or analyst meetings at Mclean Budden, Peter used to always sit in the same easy chair. He had a way of slumping into that chair. One day I decided to check the chair and found a small fortune in coins. That find allowed me to retire early. Thanks Peter. RIP.

Peter was a loving, smart and generous brother-in-law. We enjoyed every moment with him ad will treasure our memories of him.

Not only was Peter a friend of my family, he was one of my sailing mentors. He demonstrated a generosity of spirit in the way that he shared his love of sailing with me. I've often quoted something he said me perhaps more than 25 years ago, that a boat is something to be shared. And I have adopted that simple credo and approach with my own boat, always open to sharing the experience with others, in memory of Peter.
