(January 22, 1948 – January 12, 2026) Passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 77, and after a valiant battle with COPD. Survivors include Kathleen R. Laszlo (wife), Tamas Laszlo (brother), Joshua and Christine Laszlo (nephew and niece), Abigail and Jacob Laszlo (grandniece and nephew), and Laurie and Barbara Spalholz (sisters-in-law). Gabi is reunited with his parents, Eva and Elemer Laszlo. Gabi was born on January 22, 1948, in Budapest, Hungary, and was very proud of his Hungarian heritage. His family escaped during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution; an event which marked him for life. Gabi earned his BA at University of Toronto and an MS, Education from Niagara University where he met his wife of 48 Years, Kathy. Gabi had a varied and interesting career, teaching for 10 years with the Toronto and Peel Elementary School Boards and working as a marketing executive with several multi-national organizations. Most notably he introduced the Canadian Club Designated Driver Program of Hiram Walker and Sons; the first of its kind in Canada. Gabi had an abiding interest in sports and politics. He was a gentleman in manner, a sharp dresser, a keen debater, an athlete, musician and a current events aficionado. A private commemoration will be held at a later date.
