GARY KYTE Obituary

1962 - 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Kyte announce his recent passing. Gary died of heart failure at his home in Sri Lanka where, in 2022, he had taken up residence as he entered retirement. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Beverly; and his sister, Laurie. Gary will be deeply missed by his brother, Paul (Jane); brother-in-law, Jim Pelletier; nephews, Scott (Vanessa) and Andrew (Michelle) and their children; as well as a number of extended family members. Gary worked abroad (primarily in Saudi Arabia) for the majority of his professional life, which allowed him to travel extensively over the years. It is through his various work assignments and global travels that he amassed a large group of friends, all of whom will miss his friendship. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Mr. Gary, I knew for many years and he used to be accommodated in the hotel where I use to Work in Negombo. We still had contact with each other even though he moved to his new beautiful apartment which is 30 mins drive from Negombo. He was a wonderful friend I have ever met with a kind heard and I'm sure he is somewhere above now. RIP Mr Gary, you will always be our hearts.

Gary and I shared the same birthday. We also worked on together in Saudi Arabia for 12 years. He was an amazing friend and colleague, deeply compassionate and extremely kind. Whenever a challenge in Nursing informatics, policy and procedure building and streamlining of workflows occurred Gary was the one to help fix the issue and created great resolutions with joy and laughter in the process. I served as the Chairperson of the Warden and social club committee of the South African embassy creating social events for South African colleagues and friends from our Global nation. Gary helped me build an access data base register to maintain easy tracking of attending guests so I could submit names for security clearance before each event. It was a very difficult task for me but Gary stayed at work late for several weeks carefully teaching me and helping me to develop the access data base that I would edit before each event and filter and add new guests with ease. We will never remember the all the material possessions and accomplishments in life but we will always remember how people made us feel in this
Journey called life. Gary always made people feel like they belong irrespective of their background or nationality. He loved beyond borders. You will be forever remembered for the many social events we attended as a group of friends. Your infectious smile and calming presence in times of work chaos will be missed. The many memories created is edged in my mind. Thank you for embracing me as your sister in a foreign land and caring like family. God bless the family with strength to bear this sad loss! RIP Gary! You embodied love and light! Thank you!
