GARY RODECK 1953 - 2023 At home in Port Hope, in the arms of his loving wife and best friend, Beja, Gary chose death on his own terms on December 30, 2023, with the assistance of MAID. Gary was a one-in-a million guy who was afflicted with a cruel and unrelenting one-in-a million disease, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. For my formerly lively, energetic husband, simply existing with no hope for relief was not a life he could live. Gary had no regrets and knew he had lived life to its fullest. What a ride it was - ups and downs, pain and sorrows, but mostly joy and laughter! Gary loved to travel and we savoured many memory-making adventures around the world together. Anyone who knew Gary knows he was a man of perpetual motion. He loved a challenge and was always building, making or fixing something, whether working on his Corvette, or creating a project at the cottage or at our home. And, in his own words, 'there's always time for a game,' be it pickleball, soccer or just kicking a stone down the road. Gary will be deeply missed by his brothers, Bill (Catherine), Ron (Louise), John (Carole) and Jim (Dolores); as well as his many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Doctors McCart and Bischof at Mt. Sinai for all their support, and Doctors Smerdon, Essak and Mulé at Northumberland Hills Hospital for their dedicated care. A special thanks as well to Dr. Jude Obomighie, whose proactive and compassionate concern will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date in the Spring.
