Gary was born on July 14, 1949, in Toronto, Canada, and he died peacefully, surrounded by close family on April 30, 2025. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Amanda Taerk; his son, Evan Taerk; his daughter-in-law, Megan Bonnell; and his grandchildren, Stevie and Zadie Taerk. Predeceased by his wife, Audrey, of 50 years; his brother and sister-in-law, Sheldon and Susan Taerk; and his parents, Morris and Belle Taerk. Gary will be remembered for his kindness, patience, easy-going nature and sense of humour. He was an esteemed member of the psychoanalytic community, both as a treating psychiatrist and an academic. He will be greatly missed by his large group of friends, many of whom have known him since he was a child. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing and watching sports, reading the newspaper, listening to Bruce Springsteen, fishing and spending summers in Algonquin Park with his wife and children. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Pardes Shalom Cemetery, Independent Order Of Foresters section, 10953 Dufferin Street.
