(née Morrison) Passed away peacefully, on September 11, 2024, in hospital. She was 93. Deeply loved, she is survived by her son, Don (Fiona Murray); her daughter, Kelly (Geoff Kubrick, deceased); grandchildren, Nathalie, Alexandre and Samuel Kubrick, Ella and Dylan Cook; and her great-grandchildren, JJ and Annabelle Batten. She was a much adored aunt and great-aunt of 21 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 28 years, Robert "Bob" Cook; her sisters, Lydia Morrison, Jean Pigott and brother-in-law, Arthur Pigott, and Marguerite "Grete" Hale and brother-in-law, Reginald Hale; and her parents, Cecil and Margaret Morrison (nee Cotter). Gay was a tremendous believer in Canada's food and wine industry, and a champion of Ottawa's culinary community. From her first job in the catering division of the family business, Morrison Lamothe, in 1953, she graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Hotel Resort and Restaurant Administration. She was a gifted culinary creator, entrepreneur, prolific food journalist and cookbook author. She also believed firmly in breakfast. She was cheerful, lively, vibrant, and joyful. She will be deeply missed by her kids, her family, her friends and her community. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 5 – 8 p.m. EST at Beechwood National Memorial Centre.
