Geoffrey BRIANT Obituary

GEOFFREY GORDON BRIANT It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Geoffrey G. Briant on October 20, 2022. Born in 1951, Geoff grew up in the Town of Mount Royal, in Montreal, where he made many lifelong friends. Through undergraduate school and law school at McGill University, and a legal and financial career in Vancouver, many more lifelong friends were added. A true entrepreneur with big dreams, he lived life with enthusiastic optimism. He had a brilliant mind, an extraordinary sense of humour and a passion for living. There were wonderful highs and difficult lows, especially with health challenges later in life. Regardless of his circumstances, Geoff spread his infectious energy and sense of fun to all. Remembered with love by his son, Geoffrey Jr., who he loved unconditionally, his mother, Dawn Briant; his siblings, Peter, Lynda, Rebecca (Hugh) and Robert (Brandon); and uncle to Kegan, Holt, Chase, Blythe, Jesse, Madison, Parker and Dylan. A true Montrealer at heart, Geoff recently returned home "on a new adventure". In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will take place in Montreal in summer 2023.

Staggered when hearing of his death. Whenever I needed a far out opinion on any subject, which he would then carry to an extreme, I would give Geoff a call. Many years of fun and turmoil frequently remembered and often recounted. I'm sure he's very busy now, promoting the next best deal in the other world, if there is one, and if there isn't he'll create one, just as he did in this one.
Saddened to see him go.

Just tried to call my old friend Geoffrey to wish him Merry Christmas.
Both numbers out of service.
Checked the obits and was devastated to hear that he passed.
He and his family were very kind to me during university days and beyond and we stayed in touch and actually met for dinner a few years ago in Vancouver where he laughed about the bionic man having survived some major health issues. Always very upbeat with multiple ventures brewing....a great guy with a wonderful family. Best to you all.

To Geoff Jr., I'm so happy he had you and left part of his DNA behind. I knew your dad at university in NB and they were the Golden Years when we were very young all finding ourselves. Your dad was intelligent and had a certain charm and charisma; he was special. I always thought our paths would cross and that we would engage in a deep philosophical conversation. My condolences to you and your mom and know that you are meant for great things whether they are visible to everyone or not is irrelevant. With love, Murielle Simard

I was floored when I heard of Geoffrey´s death. I had just spoken with him. I was hisl law partner and was planning on moving to Montreal to be General Counsel on his latest deal. Travelled the world with him. Like Jack says, we sure had a lot of fun in Mustique. Great memories of the Crillion and the Meurice in Paris.

When I moved to Vancouver in the 1980's, I was introduced to Geoffrey Briant. We lived together on Granville Island. I met my wife when we were together. The greatest time of my life was our 3 weeks in Mystique. It was the greatest.

For 35 years, I had the pleasure of knowing GGB.

He was the best.

I've known Geoff since grade 5 at Russell School where we became best of friends. We remained good friends right through high school. I believe you form strong bonds at that age and although we drifted apart after high school I will always, I have always, considered him one of my closest friends. I have many fond memories of our time together. I had hoped we'd reconnect one day but alas it's now too late.
Rest in peace good friend,

I knew Geoffrey from growing up in TMR. He was my friend Becky´s older brother who I remember having a crush on in elementary school...he was so cute, had a great laugh and kind shining eyes. I reacquainted with Geoff in Vancouver a couple decades later through my brother David and many of the TMR clan that ended up here. Geoff was larger than life, a going concern and a true force to be reckoned with.
My sincere condolences to his family, sisters and brothers. My thoughts are with you all

I knew Geoff from growing up in TMR. We were not close, but he was always present. A confident, fun young man with the best laugh and sparkle in his eyes. He was an out there kind of guy, but I admire his no holds barred on the way he lived. Small in stature, but a giant in ideas, innovation, courage, and friendship. He leaves a legacy I admire. Full speed, 5th gear. Go for it! Why not. My condolences to his sibs, many of whom I know from the past. Geoff pushed the boundaries and lived on the edge. You must be very proud of him, and so empty and grieving. Thinking of you all. Lynn McColl Victoria BC

Geoffrey truly was a character...very bright and very enthusiastic. He left us too soon. Many good memories from his "Whistler" days

My best memories of my times with Geoff were when we were all commencing our careers in Vancouver in our mid 20´s; life was all in front of us back then and seemed filled with opportunities in a City that was emerging as a World Class destination. Geoff had a very quick and creative mind, a great sense of humour and excellent taste. He was always an entertaining personality to be around and could usually be counted on to throw the best parties. He had a great confidence about him, often pushing boundaries, and never seemed to be very intimidated by any of the challenges that business and law inevitably bring. He was a real character that will not soon be forgotten by anybody that knew him.
