Geoffrey FITZPATRICK Obituary

GEOFFREY LEWIS FITZPATRICK Geoffrey Lewis Fitzpatrick born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 26, 1958, and passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 21, 2023, at the age of 65. Geoff was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Frances Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Alex (Boushee); his siblings, Brian, Carey (Ray), David and Philip (Dayna); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. Also survived by Sue, who was there until the end. Geoff will be remembered for his incredible sense of humour, his ability to light up the room, his adventurous spirit, his love for art and music, his natural athletic abilities and the deep relationships he had with family and friends throughout his life. He was always the cool dad and uncle, and his zest for life was infectious - he was fun in the purest sense of the word. He was the coach that every kid wanted, whether it was soccer, tennis, skiing on the hill or on the water, he was there to support. Geoff possessed a rare intellect and the ability to make everyone around him feel like they mattered. He was an accomplished sales professional, a gifted musician and artist. He would play the drums 'at warp 9' in his in-law's basement in Burlington and loved riffing in his Jazz Club. His paintings will live with us forever as a constant reminder of his incredibly creative mind. Geoff loved travelling, often resulting in a memorable outcome like driving on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast… too fast, as always. During his travels, his favourite dish was linguine vongole, and for dessert, a Marlboro Red. One of his favourite places in the world was Muskoka, with fond memories of him dancing on the rock at Governor's Island, blasting Steely Dan and playing rounds of Backgammon with his dear friends, Rob Kellock and Geoff Hogarth. At Geoffrey's request, there will be no service at this time. In the summer of 2024 we will honour him in Muskoka.

My name is Elvira Pascua Bangay, I was their nanny for Alex. My condolences to Sue and Alex.. my hugs and prayers for both of you. I just used google to find out the passing of Geoff. I remembered Geoff gave me my first Polaroid camera. Geoff and Sue opened their home for me. They have the biggest heart that they always shared to me. I was looking for them for so long and I hope that they will read my message.

Geoff´s father, Uncle Bud was my fathers cousin. Our families grew up together in Toronto. I hadn´t seen Geoff in a very long time and we are sorry to hear of this news. Lots of love from the Brisbois to the Fitzpatricks. God speed Geoff....

Our mutual friend Graeme Jewett recommended Geoff for a sales position on one of our magazines. He did a great job! All the girls referred to him as the "lost Kennedy." He was always smiling and we kept in touch until a few years ago. But every time I drove past Atlanta, I left him a ten-minute "rant" on his phone. Minutes later we'd be crying with laughter. A special man went too soon. My condolences to his family. Greg MacNeil

To family and friends of Geoff, my sincere condolences. I remember Geoff as the one who lit up the room with his good looks, beautiful smile and his great humor. Thinking of you all at this time and may you celebrate his life with love for each other.

Geoff had the biggest heart, the most contagious laugh and a smile that shined like the sun.
I met Geoff through work in the television industry when I was 17, and was lucky enough to work with him for many years after that.
His absolute adoration for Alex was apparent whenever he spoke of her - he truly lit up, always such a proud Dad.
To Sue and Alex, I send you my deepest condolences.
I will miss Geoff's call at Christmas time, which he never missed.
I loved him and will miss him.
