GEOFFREY SIMPSON TAIT obituary

GEOFFREY TAIT Obituary

?With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Geoffrey Simpson Tait. Born in Toronto on February 20, 1962 (at the same time John Glenn first orbited the earth). Died in Richmond Hill on October 15, 2024. Predeceased by his adoring parents, James Simpson Tait and Adrienne Lynn Tait (nee Boone). Geoff is survived by his beloved daughter, Serena Evelyn Tait; his darling granddaughter, Audrey Claire Tait; his caring former wife, Barbara Michelle Tait (nee Fowlow); and his devoted sister, Heather Mary Hogarth (nee Tait). Geoff was also a caring uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, and first cousin to many. Geoff treasured every family occasion, story and memento from the past. He was remarkably good at keeping a low ecological footprint and staying off the grid as much as possible. Geoff spent many summers in Pointe au Baril fishing, "MacGyvering" and spending precious time with family. Geoff is now at peace with his cherished Mom and Dad.

Geoff and our respective families shared decades of New Year's Eve celebrations together. This photo is of one New Year's in the eighties. Recently this picture was admitted into the AGO as an anthropological snapshot of this time. Congratulations Geoff. We never know the effect we will have on other's lives. Geoff's mom and dad and many long time family friends are in the photograph taken by Geoff at "Dunain".

We shared a lot of our teen years at NTCI together! Worked at the Keg and learned alot about life and stuff.

Geoff will always remain a warm, quiet spirit in my heart. I am so pleased to have the option of planting a tree as nature was such a big part of who he was. Rest in Peace, Geoff.

Very sorry to hear of Geoff´s passing I knew him very well. He was a decent guy, and had many interests with a love for solar gadgets and electronic devices. We spent time at his cottage repairing his dock just last summer..... I´ll be forever grateful to have had that special time together and will always remember him as a friend.

God bless.... Dave

It is with great sadness that I learned of your passing. We met as friends and neighbors at 10 Edgecliff and continued after you moved. Spending time together at your new home and travelling to your cottage up north. We always talked on your birthday as it is shared with my oldest granddaughter.

Mike Cumberland
So many memories of our generations of families together on weekends in Toronto, up at each other's cottages and travelling around tree planting and having fun together all over Canada. You will be immensely missed Geoff.
