September 19, 1925 -
January 11, 2017
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, George
received his medical degree from
Glasgow University at age 21. After
several years of general practice, he
completed a residency in Obstetrics
and Gynaecology at Queen's
University in Kingston, Ontario,
receiving his FRCS(C) in 1965. He
served in the medical branch of the
Canadian Armed Forces in France
and Germany, as well as Cold Lake,
Alberta and Ottawa and Kingston,
Ontario. After his retirement from
the armed forces, he practiced
obstetrics and gynaecology in
Ottawa, associated with the Grace
Hospital there. He thoroughly
enjoyed practicing medicine. Over
the years he helped hundreds of
mums safely deliver healthy babies
He always felt it was a privilege to be
present at the profoundly joyful
moment of birth. He was loved by
his patients and respected by his
colleagues.
Following the death of his wife and
soulmate, Sheila, George settled in
Victoria, B. C. to be closer to his
daughters and their families. People
live on in the memories of those
who loved them. George will be
lovingly remembered by his sister-in-
law, Nan Wedderspoon; his children,
Jillian (Doug McKnight), Douglas
(Andrea Jellicoe) and Jennifer
(Art Prowse); his grandchildren,
Stephanie McKnight and Shannon
(Prowse) Keefe, Lindsay (Prowse)
Martin and Jonathan Prowse; his
great-grandchildren, Benjamin and
Spencer Cooper, Thomas and Annie
Keefe, and Oliver and Kenley Martin;
and numerous friends.
A private family memorial will be
held.

memory to the charity of your
