George COCKFIELD Obituary

COCKFIELD, George Alan
Alan Cockfield, affectionately known as ;Buzz , passed away suddenly at Credit Valley Hospital on Friday, February 11, 2000. He is dearly missed by Nancy, his wife of 45 years; his four children Sandra, Wendy, Ian, and Brenda; his sister Heather Church; and his grandchildren Asuka, Sarah, and Bridget. Alan died with dignity, as he would have wanted, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 28, 1929 in Montreal, where he spent much of his youth. A graduate of McGill University (B.Eng., 1952), Alan was an executive at Dupont for 41 years, retiring in 1994. A sportsman, competitive marathon skier, and avid golfer, Alan loved the outdoors, spending hours in the garden, camping and canoeing. His ready laugh, concern for others, optimism, and determination in all that he did will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. The family will hold a Private Funeral, followed by Memorial Service to be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Oncology Program at Credit Valley Hospital, 220 Eglinton Avenue West, Mississauga, Ontario L5M 2N1. The family wishes to thank the Oncology Staff for their compassion and excellent care.
