GEORGE LAWRENCE EMERY

1943 - 2023

GEORGE LAWRENCE EMERY George Lawrence Emery was born on February 12, 1943, in Toronto, Ontario. He passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023 at the age of 80. George is survived by his loving wife, Vanity (Bayani). They had been married for 53 wonderful years. He is loved and remembered by his niece Lisa Desjardine Murray, nephews - Bradley and Marc Desjardine, brother-in-law Charlie Bayani and wife Della, nephew-in-law Jody Bayani, nieces-in-law Jennifer Bayani, Jane Bayani, Jamie Bayani and their families, cousin John Dettman and his wife Lola, all his relatives and friends. George lived an active life. He worked with Canadian Tire Corporation - first at the Yonge street gas bar and then moved to the merchandise control department. He retired in 1996 after 34 years with the company. He and Vanity loved to travel to Europe, Asia, USA and Canada. He particularly loved Bali, Indonesia. For them every year was an adventure in sights, sounds, food and exposure to different way of life. As a family man he enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. George had a love for steam trains. As a young boy, he and his cousin John travelled by train to Western Canada. From then on, he'd go to steam train shows/rides in London, England. He enjoyed our ride in the British Pullman luxury day tour to Bath. The food and art deco designs in each of the coaches were fantastic. He also loved cars. His collection was a '59 Plymouth, '67 and '70 cougar, '80 and '83 Riviera, and a '75 yellow VW "bug". In later years he enjoyed watching old movies and T.V series particularly 'Mash', Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. George was a loving and caring husband, a gentle man, and a family man. He fully enjoyed what life had to offer. We love him and will miss him terribly.... Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Emery Family at Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, (west of Warden Avenue) on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
