GEORGE ROBERT GORRIE
(1924 - 2012) George passed peacefully, June 11, 2012 at Collingwood Nursing Home in his 87th year. George was born and raised in Toronto where he lived until retiring to Collingwood in 1991. He attended Royal Military College in Kingston Ontario and served 4 years in the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII. George was involved in the family business, Gorrie Marketing, for over 50 years. George loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer and skier. He was a founding member of the Osler Bluff Ski Club and enjoyed travelling to the Alps, and heli-skiing in the Canadian Rockies. George is survived and will be missed by his wife Lisbet, son Robert (Kate), son Terry (Adalove), daughter Marg (Bruce), step-daughter Ingrid (Andy), son-in-law Richard Reinders, sister- in-law Muff Gorrie, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth, brother Bruce and sister Francis. The family wish to thank the staff at the Collingwood Marine and General Hospital and the Collingwood Nursing Home for the care they have provided over the past two years. Cremation and a private family burial will be held. A gathering will be held in the near future to celebrate George's life.
