Peacefully at his home in Toronto, September 3, 1999 in his 102nd year. Former President and Chairman of the Board of the Manufacturers Life Insurance Company. Mr. Holmes was with the 6th Battery, C.F.A. and fought in France from 1915-1918. Beloved husband of the late Ada, and dear father of Marion, Gwendolyn, Sylvia Fyfe, and the late Louise Holmes (1955). Grandfather of Blake (Christy), John (Sue) and Alastair, and great-grandfather of Ian, Alyson, Brendan, Aimee and Katie. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (at Lascelles Blvd.). Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Pine Hills Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the C.N.I.B. or to the Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre in Oshawa.
