TURNER, George Richard
It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of George Richard Turner of Woodstock, Ontario. He was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, October 16, 1917 and died Sunday, August 1, 2004 in Woodstock. Beloved husband of Elizabeth 'Betty' J. Turner (nee Burchill) for over 59 years. Dear father of Judy Turner and her husband Terry Hawtin of Aurora, and Lynn Hayward and her husband Mark of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Cody Hayward and Sarah Turner-Hawtin. Dear brother of Gordon Turner (and Blanche) of Woodstock, Irene Hogeland (and Mel) of Brandon, Manitoba, Richard Turner (and Ethel), and also Viola Smith and Margaret Drake, all of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Special uncle to Cathy Kominek, husband Gerry and daughter Alex of Woodstock. George will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. George made and kept many friends during his 86 years, through his work and his love of bowling, dancing, card playing, and travelling to Florida for the last 13 years. George served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII, was a dairy farmer in Oxford County since 1954 and was also employed with Oxford Milkway. A time to remember George will be held at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario (519-539-0004), on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 11 a.m., with Reverend Don Moore officiating. Interment in the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Unit, Woodstock General Hospital, 270 Riddell Street, Woodstock, Ontario N4S 6N6 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
