Georges BEAUDRY Obituary
GEORGES BEAUDRY It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Georges on July 30, 2021, at the age of 72. Georges suffered from complications relating to a hematoma as a result of an injury sustained in February. He leaves behind the loves of his life - his wife and best friend, Helen Assad, and his daughter, Georgia who, for 21 years, brought him more joy and happiness than even he could have imagined. Predeceased by his parents, Georgette Ansell and Gabriel Beaudry, Georges also leaves behind his sister, Claire Beaudry and her husband, Pierre Deschenes, as well as his very dear in-laws: Lynne Assad and Said Dirani, John and Sally Assad, Mary and Kent Browne and Vicky Assad. He will also be sadly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Those who knew Georges knew that he had many careers. In the late '60s he was the Director of the Montreal Youth Clinic helping to connect street youth with much needed health and counselling resources. He had a short lived career with the federal government, operated a fruit orchard in the Okanogan Valley, spent more than 10 years in the oil and gas industry in Fort St. John, BC, then helped build a successful retail flooring business in Newmarket and Mississauga. Georges' last 15+ working years were spent at Torlys Flooring in Toronto where he enjoyed a successful and fun sales career. He loved his work and his work colleagues at Torlys, many of whom were among his dear friends. Georges retired in 2018 and moved to his cottage home at Long Lake. This is where he was the happiest - sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and a cigar, watching and identifying the birds, and enjoying the company of many lifelong friends that the Long Lake community is so well known for. Georges was a gentleman in the true sense of the word and loved his life. He woke up every morning and said aloud "another beautiful day". We invite you to join us to celebrate Georges' life at an outdoor gathering on Saturday, August 7 at 4078 Greenbank Road, Ottawa. Given the current COVID-19 restrictions, we kindly ask that our local Ottawa area friends attend between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m., and that our family and out-of-town friends attend between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. A private burial will take place in Mayo, Quebec at a later date. For those who would like to remember Georges, please consider becoming a regular blood donor, or support The Scott Mission of Toronto.
