GERALD MORIN It is with heavy hearts that we announce Gerry's death at the Credit Valley Hospital on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the young age of 77. He was the deeply loved and loving husband of Ann and a devoted and loving father to his family. Sadly missed for his caring guidance by daughters, Christine (Will and Stephanie), Stephanie (Carter), and Allison. Also missed by his step-children, Chris (Thea and Sydney) and their mom Angela, Libby (Bailey, Jack, and Robbie), and Matt and Arlene (Ryan and Autumn). He is survived by his sister, Irene (Bob) Beattie; and many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his sister, Pauline Laniel. Gerry grew up in Montreal and graduated in Economics from Sir George Williams College and McGill University. He began his career in the investment business in Montreal with Kippen & Company, and Wisener and Partners. In 1976, he moved his family to Toronto and his 52 year career in the investment business included Guaranty Trust, Nesbitt Thomson and Dominion Securities. In 2012, Gerry retired from RBC Dominion Securities after 18 years as one of its top Portfolio Managers and Investment Advisors. He was a mentor to many. In 1998, Gerry and Ann purchased a cottage in Muskoka and became charter members of the Lake Joseph Golf Club. It was there that he developed his great passion for golf. The cottage was a special place where they spent many happy times with the children and grandchildren which was highlighted annually by the August weekend grand birthday celebration. After the family outgrew the cottage, they decided it was time for a new adventure and so they purchased their condo in Naples Florida, always a 'happy place' that they shared with family and many friends. While in Naples, they joined Quail Creek Golf and Country Club and continued their love of golf and over the years they developed many lasting and special friendships. And of course, another one of Gerry's great enjoyments was sharing a martini, a 'mart' or a 'Martin' with his buddies. Gerry savoured every day, living life fully, graciously and generously. He never backed down from a challenge and his unfailing optimism and positive attitude never wavered. He was always a true gentleman and his word was his bond. He died as he lived, brave to his last breath, loyal and supportive to his family and friends.
