After an inspiring and all encompassing life full of love, mentorship, generosity and humility, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved 'Nan.' Surrounded by her children at the Dunfield Retirement Residence, she left us peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Predeceased by her ever-loving husband, William Hector Eustace Urquhart, father, Dr. Edward Earl Shouldice and mother, Hilda Marie Shouldice (Byrnes). Survived by her brother, Byrnes (Catherine). Mother extraordinaire of Sheri (Richard Clark), Ted (Monica Ureta), Deborah (David Bacque), Daryl (Selena Pitts), Caird, Debra Fleishman (Roy Fleishman), Jeff Brown (Cordelle Pittman), Judy Erdelyi, and Karen Elliott. Devoted grandmother to Michael, Sarah, Meaghan, Elizabeth, William, Kate, Emily, Eduardo, Juan Pablo, Chris, Scott, Aaron, Lauren, Mckenzie, Julie, Rachel, Jacob, Bradley, and Ben. Proud great-grandmother to Ella, Jack, Colten, and Ethan. Co-founder of Glynnwood Retirement Residence, co-owner of Shouldice Hospital. Benefactor to Lawrence Park Community Church, St. George's Church and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She will be missed by staff, friends and neighbours alike. Sanctuary for many, role model for all. How lucky are we to have had her in our lives. The family would like to thank the Temmy Latner Palliative care team as well as all the other wonderful health care workers for their professional and kind support. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. A funeral service will be held in LAWRENCE PARK COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2180 Bayview Avenue, Toronto on Tuesday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be greatly appreciated. Caird,

I'm so very sorry to hear of your mother's passing.

Although I never met her...her obit gave me a wonderful idea of who she was.

She was a great woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, volunteer philanthropist and business woman.

Such devotion and accomplishment in her life!

Thinking of you.

Sorry I can't be with you on Sunday but I am in Florida. Your mother was a "lady"and always kept me on the right track. Tuesday was the day we spent together and how. Coincidental that the service is on a Tuesday. She will always remain in my thoughts. Best to all.

Dear Deb,

My heartfelt thoughts to you and all your family at this time. I am thinking of you. Your mother was such a remarkable woman! The words in this obituary are so lovely and descriptive of the strong, warm, intelligent, accepting and special woman that she was. I feel that I, too, have learned and have been impacted by her, through my friendship with you.
