It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Dr.Gil as we called him. I was his patient for about 40 years.
Dr.Gil was always gentle, gracious and he treated his patients as if they were family. My daughter and I loved this gentleman. We often dropped in the office to visit and he always wanted to hear how Taryn was doing. I will always be grateful to both Drs. Gil and Brian for all their advice and care throughout some of my dental vicissitudes. My sincere condolences to Dr. Brian and family. Dr Gil Chapnick exemplified all the characteristics of the best dentist. May he Rest in Eternal .Peace

Annie and I were very sad hear this news of Gil’s passing. Much like my dad, I think that they just don’t make them like they used to. Kind , soft and devoted to family he was a wonderful person.
Brian and Marlene may your dads’s memory be a blessing for you.

My deepest and sincere condolences to Dr. Gilbert Chapnick´s wife, children and other family members . I have been a patient of Dr. Chapnick for over 65 years and for the past few years with his son Brian. Gilbert was such a unique and kind man. I always remember how he would greet me with such a warm, sincere and wonderful smiles. Always interested in what I was doing and how my family was. His touch was equally as gentle as his nature. I always remember when I was very young maybe 7 or 8 maybe younger even. He had a small wooden students desk in the hallway of his Spadina road practice that i would sit at and lift the lid where I would find small toys crayons and paper. And so that is what probably started my interest in drawing and cartooning which later on developed into going to art school and a career as an art director / creative director in advertising. He even willingly and excitedly posed afew years ago holding one of my latest creations a book to be published about what every dog walker has experienced from .
Gilbert´s great big smile and his gentle nature will be sorely missed . The old adage of "they don´t make them like they used too " is one that definitely speaks about Gilbert to the core. I am profoundly saddened and will miss this wonderful one of a kind gentle man. It was an honour for him to have been a part of my life. Again my sincerest condolences to his family.

He was my life-long dentist and became a friend. He started treating me when I was---5 years old,-- really, and stopped when he was in his mid-90's
I miss seeing him and I miss hearing his voice as he talked to me.
Like you all, I will miss him and think about his kindness, his gentleness and his caring forever.

I was a patient of Gilbert starting about 1970. He was a very fine dentist but more than that a very kind and interested person. When Brian joined the practice , Gilbert asked if I would mind transferring to Brian´s care. Every time I entered the office Gilbert acknowledged me and when he was able asked how I was and how is my family. . He loved being a dentist, he loved his family, he loved his patients and was a very special person. My wife Robin joins me in expressing our sympathy to Gilbert´s family.

A true gentleman, kind, charming, gracious and generous. He had wisdom and clarity about life, he was a wonderful role model. He moved dentistry forward in an age when Jewish dentists were discriminated against. He always held his head high with a genuine smile. He taught me lots about love, kindness, family and open mindedness. He will be sorely missed and will be remembered forever. Sam Strauss
