Ginger TAFEL Obituary

GINGER CROSSIN ALLAN TAFEL 'Mary Ruth' Great Scott! November 7, 2018 Ginger sashayed forth on her final trip. Born June 26, 1930 daughter of Maud Elizabeth Macpherson (d. July 28, 1951) and Harry Wilfred Crossin (d. November 14, 1973), sister of Bill Macpherson Crossin (Linda May Keyser). Mary Ruth was a proud graduate of Branksome Hall School, a Brown Owl in the Girl Guide Association and a graduate of Macdonald Hall, Guelph. Ginger was a member of the Junior League of Toronto, Regent of the Edward Johnson Chapter of the I.O.D.E, Guelph and proudly served as an elected trustee on the Wellington County Board of Education. Dear wife of Theodore Tafel (d. June 22, 2015) for 34 years and proud 'Nana of Nine' Aimée and Alexandra Puthon, Gwynne (Simon) and Maeve Allanford, Abigail and Katie Allan, Marlisa (Joao), Kalli and Steffi Ringelberg, Mother of John (Kelly South), Betsy (Andy Puthon), Kathy (Patrick Ford), and Bill (Suzi Chick d. November 14, 2013) lived 20 years in Guelph with Max Allan (d. August 4, 2004) to raise their four red heads. Loving stepmom of Lisa (Maarten Ringelberg), Tedi and Carl Tafel. In March 1981, Ginger accompanied Bev Thring to her daughter Mary's wedding in London, England, where she met the brides godfather, Theodore Tafel. They married September 26, 1981, she moved to Toronto, where her life took a new exciting course. With the children of both families taking their steps away from home, Ted and Ginger took off too. Following a one-month trip across Asia, they agreed that flying every other day was not for them. In 1983, they began their fabulous exploration of the world with a 6-month trip, in a truck, from London to Nairobi. Over 34 years and more than 100 trips together, they explored over 140 countries preferring the slower longer routes that took them into people's homes. Ted and Ginger loved their snowbird home and friends in Sandestin, Florida. They shared a love of golf and for many years playing six months in Florida and at their Toronto 'golf homes' Ladies Golf Club of Toronto and Mississauga Golf and Country Club. Friends will be welcomed by family on Saturday, November 10th 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West. No flowers please. To celebrate Ginger's life; raise a glass, mind your manners, be good company and te-da-te-da-te-da-te-da.
