Glen STRIKE Obituary

GLEN STRIKE October 12, 1936 - June 2, 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful father, grandfather and brother, Glen Strike, on June 2, 2022. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Joan Strike (nee Forsyth); his four children, Susan (Cort), Gregory, Scott (Kelly), Catherine (Craig); and his eight grandchildren, who were the light of his life: Lauren, Tori, Kennedy, Emily, Jessica, Benjamin, Charlie, and Ryan. He is also survived by his dear sister Eileen Cruickshank. Glen was born in the fall of 1936 in Montreal and grew up in Point St. Charles. He graduated from Montreal High and went on to work for Payne, Patton and Pugsley where he worked hard to become a Chartered Accountant. When he was twenty, he met the love of his life, Joan Forsyth, and the rest is history. Throughout his life, Glen dedicated himself to building his company Infoplace, which was highly successful and soon branched out to California and the UK. Always a philanthropist, Glen was extremely generous in supporting many charities, and loved giving back. He lived life to the fullest over the years as an avid golfer, horse race enthusiast, wine lover and sports fan. More than anything, Glen took the most pleasure in having his family around, and over the years the doors of the Strike home were always open to everyone. Glen had many health challenges over the years, but was so fortunate to live a very long and happy life. He often said he was not afraid to die, but was only sad about what he would be missing when he was gone. He did not waste one moment, and took nothing for granted. He was a great man and was loved by so many. He will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home at 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham. Funeral services will be held at St. Philip's on-the-Hill at 9400 Kennedy Road, Markham on Wednesday, June 8, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please raise a glass in his honour and consider making a donation to either Cystic Fibrosis Canada or Markham Stouffville Hospital, two causes that were very close to his heart.

I just found out that Glen had passed. I worked in his company in the U.K. and subsequently when I left the company in 2006, I moved to work abroad for 11 years and lost contact with him. He truly was a gentleman and a pleasure to work with and we had many a pleasant dinner when he visited the U.K.

I´m so very sorry for your loss he was a very kind and sensitive man. I remember one of the lunches with all the info group. I was laughing when I told the table I was doing laundry with my Christopher by hand as the washing machine was broken. A new one was not affordable at the time. I had no idea Glen was listening from the next table. I was told by Ken that Glen would not have any woman doing laundry by hand while working for info. I was ordered to buy new washer at his cost. He had my gratitude and admiration and a piece of my heart. He had a great and generous heart. Love to all of you Henny
