I thought of you and Glenn today as I was talking to one of our residents from the Toronto area. Checking online I see that Glenn has passed. Both of you were a great combination of highly skilled and truly concerned for others. I was truly hoping years ago that you two would remain in Michigan rather than return to Canada. Our deepest condolences to you Alicia, Claire and Ian. We just heard of Glenn's passing and are in shock and disbelief, not having known of his struggles and reason for retirement. Taken far too soon. He was the most outstanding Doctor, who took care of our family since moving to Grimsby in February 1994, until his retirement. He was a wonderful neighbour and kind man who inspired all to be healthy when we saw him riding his bike to the hospital or running through town. Knowing what a wonderful marriage and family life you had, I pray all the many memories of family vacations and time spent together as a close knit family will provide you solace and peace. Our deepest condolences to you all. Such sad news. Your dad was such an inspiration to so many. He was an amazing doctor to my boys. He was always so kind in asking about everyone. We loved his stories about the family surfing and ski trips and how proud he was of his kids.
Ian I am sending you the biggest hug right now and Alicia I cry with you. It wasn’t that long ago you biked past my house and I was so impressed you were keeping up with him and you both gave us a big wave! If he wasn’t biking, he was running. He touched so many lives. I had the privilege of working with Glen for 25 yrs in Grimsby. He was also our family doctor. He saved the life of our son and our family will be forever grateful for that. A kind, gentle and brilliant man who was taken from the world too early. Our condolences from our family to yours.

We knew Dr.Pierce as our family doctor since 2000, we saw him in action as a Grimsby resident running & biking thru town.
In later years we would see Glenn rowing at St.Catharines Rowing Club.
In recent years my appointments always began with him asking “how are the boys?” And he asked with special interest in rowing updates.
My respect for Dr.Pierce ran deep.
It’s most upsetting to now understand, why he suddenly appeared to uproot.
I’m pleased to read he moved to his dream location.
I extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Pierce, their daughter, their son; his brother & sister.
He will never be forgotten - Grimsby will always remember him.

Dr. Pierce was my dr for over 25 years. He was always easy to speak with and very understanding. I remember a photo in his office of a race with flowers in it he always smiled when I commented on that photo. I was very sad when he left so suddenly. I understand why he did now. I wish his family the best and wish him peace. He deserved better and is sadly missed.

I was able to get to know Glenn a little bit after meeting his dog Rusty at Centennial park in Grimsby. We would run into each other at the park and let the dogs run around together while we swapped emergency room stories. He was such a nice man, very down to earth, I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. This is extremely sad news. Rest in Peace Dr. Pierce.

I have really enjoyed reading all of the memories of Glenn from friends, colleagues & patients. Glenn was a wealthy man because he had a loving and supportive family. Like so many, Dr. Pierce was my family's doctor - taking care of four generations in my family. There was this calm to him that instantly put you at ease no matter what issue you were dealing with. I am sad that he didn't get the retirement he worked so hard to have, but I am glad that he ended up living where he planned. Our deepest condolences to you, Alicia, Claire, Aaron and Ian. We have fond memories of Dr. Pierce - of his care for our family, especially in helping to bring our 4 oldest into the world (Claire even gave Noah a nice hairdo when she accompanied her dad on his hospital rounds after Noah was born in 2003!); of him biking past our house on his way to and from work; of running into him at races and at the rowing course. DR. Pierce was a SAINT ,When my wife was dying of cancer at home DR. Pierce would come down and make house calls for my wife in 1995 in Grimsby ONT.

Whether it was leaving me in the dust in the Peachbud race, or crossing paths in the hospital on a busy morning, Glenn would never pass by without a kind word of support and a helpful dose of his understated humour. Glenn became our family doctor after Dr. Peller left. Glenn was attentive and kind to our family, which I am very grateful for. Glenn and I worked together for the entirety of Glenn’s career in a Grimsby. It was an honour and a great pleasure to have Glenn as a close and wonderful friend and colleague. I was totally blindsided and devastated by the news of his untimely passing. I will always remember Glenn as the epitome of great health and fitness- a superman who despite working long hours as a dedicated family physician found time to accomplish incredible feats of athleticism again and again which inspired all his patients and colleagues. He was a caring, compassionate and talented physician who served his community selflessly and with distinction, and above all he was a loving family man to his spouse and two children, and a superb, beautiful human being. I will always remember my good friend Glenn Pierce and be inspired by him as long as I live. The world is a worse place without you, my friend. RIP

When we moved to Grimsby we were lucky Glenn was the physician to our 3 boys . He was always so knowledgeable, caring and a great supporter of the boys in their respective sports. I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Glenn Pierce for 24 years! He delivered both my nieces and my daughters (I almost named my second daughter Claire not knowing that was his daughters name) and throughout the years he served as a loyal doctor to my entire family. Throughout my time as Dr Pierce’ client I became a runner myself and he talked and walked me through my first marathon. His wisdom and kind manner will forever be in my heart.
