ELLENTON, Gloria Elizabeth
Stinson (nee Logan)

Born in London, Ontario, Gloria
died peacefully at home in
Waterloo, Ontario at the age of
86, on Monday, February 17,
2014, in the loving care of her
husband of 63 years, Harold
Kenneth Ellenton. Daughter of
the late Beryl Mildred Boug and
Albert Everett Logan,
stepdaughter to the late Dorothy
Logan. Predeceased by her
beloved sister Suzanne
Cadarette Logan (Carroll). Gloria
was well-loved and is greatly
missed by her husband Harold,
her children, Jennifer, Susan
(Robert Anderson), Kristy (Mike
Stroh), Liz (Kelly Townsend) and
Bob (Faith Moosang), as well as
her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.
   Gloria was a physicist and was
one of Canada's first women
weather forecasters. Her
professional career included
weather forecasting for
Atmospheric Environment
Services at Malton, Ontario,
atmospheric modelling for the
Ontario Ministry of the
Environment in Toronto and
running her own consulting
company. She earned her PhD in
Mechanical Engineering at the
University of Waterloo in 1978
after raising her 5 children.
   Gloria had an adventurous spirit,
loved to travel and loved being
on or in the water, be it ocean,
lake, or swimming pool. She
enjoyed spending time at the
family farm near Walters Falls
Ontario, skiing, reading, music,
art and pitting her wits against
cryptic crosswords. Her love of
the world of make-believe
provided great joy for her
children and their children.
   Gloria persevered through the
last years of her life with
Parkinson's disease with grace
and determination. She was a
very special and remarkable
woman and will be greatly
missed by her family and friends
May her spirit fly free.
   According to her wishes, there
will be no funeral service
Donations may be made in her
memory to the Parkinson
Society of Canada.
